We purchased a scenic and private 22 acre site. Our initial idea was to create our own paradise. A piece of land, between three families, that was blessed with an array of wildlife including: Roe Deer, Bats, Barn Owls and Buzzards. Our first act was to remove the barbed wire on the site to make it as safe and accessible as possible for our native species.
We reinstated a dried out, neglected pond to further enhance the site. Allowing for another habitat to nurture our neighbouring wildlife. This has led to the moving in of Ducks, Herons and a variety of fish.
During our first year, we would spend our weekends restoring the site. Camping with our families, building dens and observing the wildlife.
One weekend, we realised that we were sitting on the ideal location to begin our journey of offsetting carbon footprints, here in heart of Lancashire.
The opportunity became evident - we could use our piece of Lancashire to make a difference. We could show our Children and Grandchildren real action.
Our land was perfectly suited to become a scenic woodland that could function as a tool in the fight against climate change.
After discovering a natural spring on the site, it was evident that nature was providing us with the tools to move forward with this project. We harnessed the spring to create a 100% green irrigation system to water our trees.
The next step was to find the right tree...
